  • Understand what Moodle can do, how it compares to other e-learning packages, and how it can support your teaching strategies
  • Install the Moodle software on your own computer or a server, and understand your way around it

This book explains what each of these features are, how they work, and most importantly how and when to use them effectively.
  • Manage students - so that you can ensure that the right students are going to the right classes; allow students to enrol themselves, or invite students to join a course. You can even set up commercial courses where students pay to sign

Of course, the book contains everything you'd expect from an introduction to Moodle: clear step-by-step instructions, plenty of screenshots, explanations and guides through the many features and options that you have to choose from. Throughout the book, William develops an example course. He uses this example to explore the sort of decisions, design considerations, and thought that goes into developing a successful course.

o Identify constraints or project limitations

The course design will not include navigational or interface design for the learning management system, only the course within the current version of Moodle during the design and development phase. All necessary adjustments to the course design due to Moodle system, technology change or course upgrade will be left to CSB and Creata Vivendi.

Calculator Constraints

Determined that the first two calculators that I ordered were not compatible. I have looked all over the net. Google searching for USB calculators. Incompatible interface design with electronic calculator. I also tried using inventory calculators. I will try to return products and start searching for the electronic calculator with ribbons AND USB ports tomorrow,
Software/ and/or hardware will need top be evaluated with the correct ten-key interface for touch key calculation

SuperbCalc tape calculator software

http://www.mariottini.net/roberto/superbcalc/#mozTocId969586

SuperbCalc is a tape calculator software (also called "financial calculator", "desk calculator" or "adding machine") written in Java. Doing calculations with SuperbCalc is as easy as with your classic tape calculator, but with more advanced features.
You have your tape of paper that gets written, showing you the full history of the calculations made, and you can print it with your printer, you can cut it and also throw it away.
But you can also insert comments, check/uncheck each line, copy & paste a single number or a whole tape into your preferred word processing or spreadsheet application, and more.
With SuperbCalc you can correct the numbers directly in the tape, and it will automatically recalculate the whole tape!

Features

  • Calculations are made with arbitrary-precision signed decimal numbers matching the IEEE 754R standard (the maximum precision is 64 bits, corresponding to 15-16 significant digits).
  • It can use its full decimal precision or rounding with 0, 2, 3, 4 or 6 decimals.
  • Three rounding modes: down, half-up and up.
  • Percent calculations.
  • Memory functions.
  • Grand Total function.
  • Annotations can be made on every line of the tape.
  • Each line can be checked/unchecked. Four check symbols available of different colors.
  • The tape automatically expands to use all the space available on your screen and shows a scrollbar when there's no more space.
  • Two colors tape writing.
  • The SuperbCalc keyboard layout mimics your computer keyboard layout.
  • Main menu for easy access to all the functions.
  • Virtually unlimited tape length.
  • Virtually unlimited number of cut tapes on screen.
  • Tape printing, with print preview and page setup.
  • Save tape on a file, open a file in a new tape.
  • Clipboard operations, either with the single number on the display, a single line of the tape or the whole tape.
  • Saved files can be opened by most spreadsheets, specifying to use the TAB character as separator.
  • Saved files can be opened by most word processors, and tables can be automatically created from them.
  • Tapes copied in the clipboard can be pasted directly in most spreadsheets and word processors.
  • Integrated software update via Internet. Can use a proxy server.
  • The look and feel is configurable.
  • All the colors and fonts are configurable.
  • The numeric system used is configurable: European, Arabic, Devanagari and others (the fonts chosen must support it).
  • The locale is configurable.
  • The tape is editable, with automatic recalculation.
Note: SuperbCalc is a financial calculator (or accounting calculator), it's not meant to be used as a scientific calculator.

Usage

SuperbCalc can be operated with your computer keyboard using the numeric keypad and nearby keys. In fact, the SuperbCalc main interface mimics the right part of your keyboard, to help typing. There's no need to use the mouse for the most common operations (you can still use it if you want, though). A context menu shows all the available operations at a glance.

10-Key Plus

10-Key Plus is a full-featured tape calculator that can be used with any program. Cut and paste the results, create a running tape, and even print the results to a printer to attach to documents. Use a traditional 10-Key layout or a handheld calculator layout. Both have the look and feel of real calculators and interact with the mouse or keyboard for quick data entry.

o Analyze subject matter
o Identify time constraints
April 7, 2011 launch date
o Define Project Schedule
o Identify costs associated with the project
o Identify internal and external resources required
Currently using the Monroe 7130 electronic calculator, will need a robust 10-key interface USB hardware in order to translate and electronic calculator to online learning.
May need a software in addition to the hardware to give a receipt tape feel to the assignments.
o Summarize conclusions related to objectives
I recommend that the client consider the Victor Heavy Duty Commercial 1280-7 calculator for a possible hardware solution. If client prefers to keep hardware costs at a minimum, I would recommend changing the keypad interface in the book to be consistent with a standard desktop keyboard.
